The Inside Scoop on Big Man on Campus

Angela Allsbrook, Staff Writer

After an interview with Eilis Gehle, Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy chair, I now have the inside scoop on the event this Wednesday at 7 pm in Belk Auditorium. Each year, the sorority puts on Big Man on Campus where they have male participants compete in a beauty pageant.  All Registered Student Organizations, or RSOs, are allowed to have one representative participate.

The males must prepare an opening act, be ready to answer interview questions, which is followed by a talent show, and ends with them showing off their formal wear.  This year the judges will be professors, faculty, and staff such as Dr. Roy Campbell, Harriett- Graham Courtney, Coach Harold Nichols and Dr. Brooke Spatta.  The overall purpose of the event is to raise money for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, which raises money for breast cancer awareness and education.

Last year’s event was a blast with many of the boys’ singing and playing the guitar, dancing, doing monologues of scenes from famous movies, and some even did magic tricks!  Seth Moreland was named Big Man on Campus in 2013 since he won the judges over by making them laugh and have a good time.  He will be passing the title to someone new this Wednesday.  Remember to get your tickets this Monday through Wednesday in Springs and GDH for only $3!
