This year, Resldence Life at Presbyterian College created a haunted infirmary for for its Halloween Boo Bash. This attraction was in Reynolds Hall, located to the right of Greenville Dining Hall in the old infirmary, on October 26th and 27th.
The lines were long, and the anticipation was high. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and shivering with fear, partly from the audible screams coming from inside, creating the perfect atmosphere for the upcoming night of horrific fun. Once the waivers were signed and raffle entries filled out, the fun began.
Once you entered the haunted infirmary, the first thing you were met with was a jump scare and a creepy voice urging you forward. After turning corner after corner, horrific scenes of surgery, psych wards, and maniacal killers were spookily refreshing and scary. The attention to detail was incredible, and the Reslife staff decorated the house with extreme care. Even the costumes of the actors were chilling. One participant said their favorite part was the masks and random screams from other rooms that built anticipation.
Something I enjoyed about the whole experience was that each night was unique, partly because the cast was different each night and the story changed slightly.
Students interviews afterwards raved about how scary and exciting the experience was. Jeremiah Watts, when asked about his favorite parts of the haunted infirmary, responded in a visibly shaken manner.> “Terrible! Absolutely terrible!” he said.
If haunted infirmaries were too much for you, then the rest of the Boo Bash was a perfect option. The Reslife had a bonfire set up with smores and cotton candy, along with a screen playing scary movies like “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Dracula.”
