The Tri Sigma sorority invited all PC students on November 3rd, in Khune Auditorium, to attend SGT Brown’s informative facts about how to earn service hours by volunteering at their facility. In addition to that, the recently renamed facility, Laurens County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter, is a government organization that assists homeless animals around Laurens County. SGT Brown initially explained the safety procedures while fostering orphaned dogs from their facility, as well as the importance of raising awareness as a cue to promote more opportunities for dogs to find a loving home. According to SGT Brown, their facility brought in 1200 animals in 2022. Most dogs from the shelter require mental and physical stimulation, so simply going for a walk will do the pooch a good favor. In particular, this volunteer effort not only includes walking the dogs but involves raising charity events as well. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter incorporates adoption events for their animals in addition to hosting events such as bake sales or shot clinics at a more affordable price. To conclude, SGT Brown and his coworkers aspire to connect with PC students in order to continuously support homeless dogs in the local community.
