Last Monday Night, January 29th, the Carol International House Resident Assistances (RA’s) hosted a game and craft night. Bri, Carlos, Hallie, and Morvens made a mundane Monday night and turned it into a fun-filled gathering of cultures and games. The atmosphere was great, there were refreshments, and plenty of competitive spirits to go around that night.
While the night started slowly, with only 5 people in attendance, that number quadrupled after half an hour. Highlights of the night included friendship bracelet making as well as card and video games. Speaking of friendship, there were a lot of new faces to get to know and cultures to experience. I enjoyed teaching exchange students how to play the card game Uno, and watching as they quickly learned the game and eventually became unstoppable, winning almost every round!
Another great thing about the RA Game Night was meeting all of the people and getting to know their stories through mindless chatter. I met so many wonderful people and also learned a lot about the RAs this way. Events like this bring the community together by encouraging teamwork disguised as fun.
If you are on the fence about going to an event on campus, I highly recommend you at least check it out for 5 minutes. You never know what may happen or who you may meet. These events are great ways to make new friends, create, and have fun!
