Sandwiched between Greenville Dining Hall and the PC pond, the interior of Reynolds Hall is arranged with spooky decorations on October 30th, Wednesday, from 8 pm to 11 pm, by the Student Activities Board (SAB) and Reslife to celebrate the arrival of Halloween. This on-campus haunted house also happened last year! (Check out our previous article, Gallery: Reslife Haunted House.)
In addition, students must first sign waivers to enter the on-campus haunted house for instructional and legal purposes. Students may also register for an optional Halloween raffle entry. A bonfire, partnered with smores and Halloween candies, is additionally included in the event.
Furthermore, the on-campus haunted house featured PC student actors, which added life and death to the old infirmary building. The student actors’ phenomenal stage performance frightened many students, which resulted in many face cards declining. To simplify, most of the students can experience both the thrill and fun because of the enjoyable experience. For example, one group of students walked out of the haunted house with laughter to relieve their adrenaline rush.
Each scene inside the on-campus haunted house incorporated inspirations from well-known American horror films such as It by Stephen King. The prop materials included artificial blood, fake knives, and unsettling masks. They added to the essential requirements of a horror film setup. Lastly, the absence of regular light manufactured the essence of the uncanny because the dark illuminates the unknown.
Who knows what is hiding out there?
