On Monday, March 17, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, there was an event hosted in Neville Hall in which people could come and relax while they painted, ate snacks, and chatted. It was hosted by a new and approved club called True Blue. I interviewed the two people, Opal and Emily, who decided to come up with this club, and to put it into perspective, they wanted a place where even non-art majors and minors could come and be welcomed into an environment where they could express their creativity. Both wanted artists to have a safe space because they knew that some people were not as confident in their artistic abilities. The experience was overall fun and calming. There was fruit and sparkling juice (which is where the “sip” part comes from in the title of the event). We were allowed to use either paper or a canvas to paint our artwork, and there were a variety of different colors and paintbrushes to use. There was music that fit the atmosphere and made everyone feel cozy, as well as both Opal and Emily talking and getting to know the people that came and helping them feel welcome.
