It felt just like yesterday when I was assigned my first buddy at the beginning of the spring semester. It’s incredible how meeting a person from a different culture can open up your mind to a world you never thought existed. That feeling was truly magical, and something I will always cherish.
To celebrate all the great memories everyone made together, we’ve decided to create an International Student Potluck, where anyone can create their dish from their own country, and everyone else can try it. It was truly a fun time to see as we all cooked in the kitchen and got to work on the dishes they all know and love. Through the chopping, mixed ingredients, and potential fire hazards, we pushed on and created a wonderful spread for everyone to enjoy. I was a sous chef alongside my buddy Julian, where we created Mongolian Fried Noodles with Beef and Carrots (yum).
The dinner was in full spring, as we all chatted and learned new stuff about each other, and we even managed to secure a cake for dessert. We also learned a new way of cutting a cake that particularly shocked everyone, where you cut a circle in the middle of the cake, and then slice towards it. No matter the shape, the cake was superb, and so was the company.
I can safely say that this was one of the best activities I’ve done all semester, and I’m thankful to be a part of this lovely community. I’m going to miss having them around, and I hope we all cherish the memories we made along the way.
