Blue Hose Fall: 34-17

The Blue Hose football team opened up their home season at Bailey Memorial Stadium on September 25 against North Greenville University. Following three straight games on the road, the team and its fans hoped that a return to Clinton might be the final piece to the winning puzzle (especially after gaining national attention by producing Sportcenter’s Top Play against Wake Forest and putting up admirable performances against Clemson and Citadel).
Sadly, it was not meant to be as the Hose fell 34 to 17 to the Crusaders. North Greenville racked up 272 yards on the ground and took advantage of 4 PC turnovers to gain the school’s first victory against the Hose in its history. The loss dropped PC to 0-4 on the season and 0-18 since 2008.
The team gets its next chance to snap the streak and give Harold Nichols his first win as head coach of his alma mater this weekend in Lexington, Virginia as they open Big South conference play against a VMI team that is also looking to turn around a so far disappointing season.
