Over spring break the men’s basketball team honored Walt Allen; the lone senior on this year’s 2010-2011 Blue Hose roster. PC hosted Liberty and won a thrilling 73-66 contest. There were over 700 in attendance to witness Walt Allen and the Blue Hose claim victory over the Flames. With the win the Blue Hose split the season series with Liberty and avenge an early season loss to the Flames.

The Blue Hose displayed amazing offensive effort with all five starters scoring in the double figures. Senior, Walt Allen, lead the team with 18 points with Jake Troyli not far behind with 16 points. Allen was one point shy of his career high of 19 points which he scored in the previous game against VMI.

The Blue Hose lead 14-10 early in the first half before Liberty went on an 11-0 run which gave them a 21-14 lead. The Blue Hose fought back to gain a 28-26 advantage at the half and never looked back. In the second half the Blue Hose came out on fire going on a 20-6 run. With the 16 point lead the Blue Hose held off the Flames and coasted to an easy win.

Other notable Blue Hose scorers included Khalid Mutakabbir with 13 and Pierre Miller and Josh Johnson both with 11. Troyli led the team with 5 rebounds. David Minaya led the Flames with 18 points and he was followed by his teammate Jeremy Anderson with 14 points. The Flames were led in rebounds by John Brown with 7 rebounds and 13 points.

The Blue Hose ended the season 13-18 overall going 7-11 in the Big South. This is the best the Blue Hose have done since making the transition to D-1. Congratulations to senior, Walt Allen, for outstanding service and being an admirable role model for the youth of Clinton. We will miss you Walt and we wish you the best!
