Leslie Hensley: Player of the Week

For the second week in a row softball pitcher, Leslie Hensley, won the athlete of the week award. This honor comes from the SAAC and it is based upon outstanding athletic performance. Hensley earned this prestigious honor by pitching two complete games against conference foe Charleston Southern last weekend. In two games Hensley only gave up 7 hits. She sported a 0.47 ERA, and 9 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched ear.

Hensley lead the lady Blue Hose to a 2-1 victory on Friday by only allowing two hits in seven innings. Her encore performance on Saturday was a 2-0 shutout in which she only allowed five hits and struck out 7 Buccaneer batters. Her pitching line for the week is as follows: 2-0, 0.47 ERA, 15 innings pitched, 7 hits allowed, 1 unearned run, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts.

In the prior week that Hensley won athlete of the week she had yielded similar results. Once again she pitched two complete game wins. In the two games she allowed a mere 8 hits holding her opponents to a 0.50 ERA while striking out six. She pitched a complete game shutout against Gardner Webb, striking out 4 in the 5-0 victory against the conference opponent. Leslie then went on to defeat Western Carolina 5-1. In that contest she allowed 3 hits, struck out 2, and helped the lady Blue Hose offensively by going 2-4 with 3 RBI and a home run.
