What You Missed This Week in PC Sports

The men’s basketball team faced two straight conference road games over the past week and lost both contests respectively. The Blue Hose fell to High Point on Thursday night 70-82 with senior Ben Drake leading the Blue Hose with 15 points and tying freshman Michael Isler with 6 rebounds. Following the contest, the Blue Hose came up short again, this time to UNC Asheville 64-75 on Saturday. Freshman guard Zeb Graham led the Blue Hose with 18 points while sophomore forward Cory Hightower had 12 rebounds. The men’s basketball team currently sits at 9-20 overall and 6-10 in conference play.

The women’s basketball team also fell in their conference games as well. The women’s team lost a road contest to Hampton on Saturday 53-67, with Shamani Stafford leading with 12 points and Tionna Carter leading with 11 rebounds. Back at home on Tuesday, the team fell to High Point 71-79 with Carter leading with 28 points and 15 rebounds. The women’s basketball team currently sits at 10-17 overall and 6-12 in conference play.

PC’s acrobatics and tumbling team had their first ever meet in the history of the program on Sunday, falling to Quinnipiac 252.045 to 268.300. The acrobatics team did however beat Quinnipiac in the Compulsory Pyramid Heat, the Pyramid Synchronized Heat and the Tumbling Event. Freshman Maya Cunningham lead the Blue Hose with a 9.500 score in the Open Press with Emma Bragg, Diana Santopeitro, Jaden Haely and Ciera Carter registering an 8.400 in the Tumbling Event.

Both the PC Baseball and Softball teams went to non conference tournaments over the week. At the Wofford/USC Upstate Tournament in Spartanburg, the baseball team went 2-1, winning against Brown and Manhattan and losing to Monmouth. At the Black and Orange Challenge in Macon, Georgia, the softball team went 3-1, winning against Akron, Bryant and Georgia State, while falling to Mercer at the event.

The Men’s Tennis team went 1-1 over the week with a win against Appalachian State and a loss against South Carolina while the Women’s Tennis team fell to Georgia Southern 1-6.

Women’s Lacrosse fell to VCU 10-23 on Sunday with Madison Berg scoring 3 goals.

Men’s Wrestling fell to VMI 34-10 on Saturday while Cassandra Lopez and Morgan Norris won individual titles for Women’s Wrestling at the Lady Warrior Open in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday.
