PC Students- you have GOT to get out of your dorm more! The world is wide and there are students just waitingggg to become friends with you! So allow me to provide some ideas of clubs in this Spring semester that you, my friend, can join at no extra cost to get out of your dorm, get some passions on your resume, and make connections that will last the rest of your life.
The Outdoors Club – The outdoors club, run by Victoria Weaver, is, as you guessed it, held outdoors! What does that mean, you might wonder? At the Outdoors Club, we prioritize hiking, camping, and are on track to give opportunities for other activities such as rock climbing and paintball. Just last year, we hosted a bonfire with the Ecology club that had over 30 people come by. They signed up for a hike that we did just weeks later, away from campus, where we explored the woods together.
The Ecology Club – The Ecology Club, run by Ezra Marks, is a long-lasting PC club that works right on campus in the green house. This upcoming semester has a lot in store for the Presbyterian College student body! Earth Day is just months away, and Ezra cannot wait to begin preparation. Be ready for booths from your other favorite clubs surrounding plant selling booths, ecology club merch, and free food. This isn’t all the ecology club is about. We work in the greenhouse every day possible, prepping beautiful flowers and plants of all species. It is the mission of the Presbyterian Ecology Club to make our campus greener by adding pollinator gardens, picnic tables, and most importantly, our composting system called the Eco Hub.
The Bluestocking – This newspaper right here is a school organization you can join at no added cost, but a nice payment to you instead! Do you like writing, and find yourself wanting an escape from your only writing outlet being academic essays? Without a doubt, you should join Bluestocking. And we don’t just do articles like this! Become a photographer, an editor, or a publisher! Find your writer’s outlet right here on campus.
Figs and Thistles – When discussing creativeness on campus, Figs and Thistles takes the cake. Figs and Thistles is the PC arts magazine that publishes visual art, photography, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction written and edited by the PC student body. They take any kind of submissions from anybody! And when the magazine is published, you’ll be handed a physical copy of your work inside a published work. How neat!
